Eco Design

Studio MOORE designs children’s furniture for a world in transition. A world that asks for less waste, more care, and products that last — not only in years, also in meaning. PLAAY° is the very first piece in our collection. And it sets the tone for everything studio MOORE stands for.

Designed for longevity, Ecodesign at the core

At studio MOORE, sustainability starts at the drawing table. Following ecodesign principles, PLAAY° is intentionally designed for use, reuse and long life — not for trends or short phases.

DESIGN FOR LONGEVITY

How We See It

This approach dramatically extends the lifespan of PLAAY° and reduces the need for new furniture. This ensures we are always saving materials, energy and emissions along the way.

Local, Thoughtful, Responsible

PLAAY° is developed, produced and sold in collaboration with a mix of local, European and social partners and enterprises, keeping and exchanging knowledge, craftsmanship and value close to home.

Materials are carefully researched to meet strict safety, durability and circularity requirements. Over time, each piece will be linked to a digital materials passport, making transparency tangible and accessible.

Safety & Certification

Crib & Co-sleeper

EN1130 Compliant

PLAAY° is designed to provide a safe, comfortable and reassuring sleeping environment for your baby from birth. The product complies with EN 1130, the European safety standard for cradles and baby sleepers, and meets all essential requirements regarding construction, materials and safe use.

EN 1130 COMPLIANCE

Safety According to European Standards

Compliance with EN 1130 means this crib/co-sleeper has been designed and assessed in line with European safety guidelines for infant sleep products.

  • A stable and robust construction, assembled according to the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Undamaged materials suitable for infant use
  • Non-toxic, lead-free finishes and paints
  • Rounded or protected edges and corners to reduce the risk of injury
  • No small detachable parts that could be loosened by a child

The crib has been designed with carefully controlled dimensions to help prevent entrapment and ensure adequate airflow:

  • Minimum internal side height of 20 cm, measured from the top of the mattress to the upper edge
  • Slat spacing between 4.5 cm and 6.5 cm
  • Slots and openings are between 1.2 and 2.5 cm wide or smaller than 0.5 cm.
  • Slatted or mesh base with openings not exceeding 2.5 cm, supporting both safety and ventilation

The birch plywood used in PLAAY° comes from responsibly managed European forests and is certified under both FSC and PEFC schemes. The material is selected for its high quality, stability, and long lifespan.

In addition to sustainability, particular attention is given to indoor health and safety. The plywood meets strict European low-emission standards (E1) and carries the Finnish M1 label for low indoor emissions, contributing to a healthy indoor environment in homes and children’s spaces. It also complies with international standards including CARB Phase 2 and EPA TSCA Title VI.

The finishes used are tested according to the European EN 71-3 toy safety standard, ensuring safe use in environments for children.

Certified Safety

Tested to Grow Safely

PLAAY° has been independently tested by TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognized organization specializing in product safety, quality, and certification. TÜV Rheinland is known for its rigorous and objective testing procedures in accordance with international standards.

Comprehensive mechanical safety tests were conducted on all functional configurations of PLAAY°, including the crib and co-sleeper, the play corner, and the children's desk. These tests were carried out in line with relevant European standards such as DIN EN 1130 (cribs), DIN EN 1729 (tables and educational furniture), as well as additional safety guidelines for children’s furniture.

During testing, key aspects such as stability, structural strength, durability, and safety under everyday use and repeated loading were thoroughly evaluated. All tested configurations achieved a positive result (“Pass”), confirming compliance with applicable safety requirements.
